What to include so we can quote

Send what you have. If you do not know something, say so and we will ask the right question.

• Cargo type

  What it is, in plain words. Say if it is general cargo, bulk, refrigerated, hazardous or oversized. For customs, add the HS code if you know it.

• Weight and volume

  Total weight in kilograms or tonnes, and total volume in cubic metres. For several items, give the size and weight of each.

• Packaging

  How the cargo is packed: cartons, pallets, drums, bags, crates, loose. Add the number of packages and the size of each. Say whether pallets can be stacked.

• Origin

  Where the cargo starts: the full address, or the city and the port or airport. Say if it needs collecting from a site.

• Destination

  Where it must end: the full address, or the city and the port or airport. Note any access limits at the site.

• Ready date

  The date the cargo is ready to be collected. Add the date it is needed by, if there is one.

• Incoterm

  The Incoterms 2020 rule in your sales contract, such as FOB or CIF. It sets who arranges and pays for each part of the trip. If you are unsure, send the contract line and we will read it with you.

• Special handling

  Anything that changes how the cargo is handled: a temperature range, fragile items, dangerous goods (give the UN number and class if you have them), lifting points, or permits.
